MCi History

  • 1935 - Founded as a machine shop by A.C. Koot (IKU stands for Industrie Koot Utrecht)
  • 1969 - Introduced first small electric actuator (500 series)
  • 1972 - First program with BMW
  • 1975 - Joint venture with Sheller-Globe (US), Ichikoh (Japan) and Metagal (Brazil)
  • 1985 - Developed first memory control actuator
  • 1986 - Developed first medium electric actuator
  • 1987 - Sold bicycle parts business
  • 1988 - Founded IKU USA in Three Rivers, Michigan
  • 1993 - Developed first powerfold actuator
  • 1995 - Eaton acquired IKU
  • 2001 - Acquisition of Manorhamilton plant in Ireland
  • 2003 - Launch of 300 mirror glass & 204-205 powerfold actuator
  • 2005 - Production relocation from Three Rivers, Michigan to Reynosa, Mexico
  • 2007 - Bregal Capital acquired Mirror Controls Division, new name MCi
  • 2009 - MCi to open a new facility in Suzhou, China
